Goat Gate news - 2 August 2006

Kiddies,

Been getting calls and emails for information wrt the Goat Gate Trial
scheduled for 31 July 2006.

In summary: Paul, his lawyer and David reported to the court at the
stipulated time and date. The original magisterate had been transferred out
and a new one had been assigned.

a) The new magisterate asked the police why they were pressing charges since
this appeared to be a DBKL case. The police attorney responded that the
police were claiming juristiction in this matter. A possible reason for that
is given below by Paul.

b) The magisterate postponed David's hearing to 7 March 2007.

c) Magisterate also told the police to either return the equipment
confiscated at the venue immediately, or send the Investigating Officer over
to explain why it can't be returned.

The following are based statements from Paul:
*********************************************

People still think the raid on My Place was because we didn't have a license
for a signboard, as per the Charge against David.

Let it be known:

The Raid on New Years eve was conducted on a false Tip off, to the Police,
that Black Metal rituals, Goat Sacrifices, and Drug taking were going on at
Paul's Place, during the new years Eve Party.

Guests were Taken away to the Police station and tested for drugs on this
false information. The Police Acted unlawfully and had no right to remove
anyone from the premises or remove any of the equipment stored there. There
were no License offences whatsoever, involved in the Raid.

Only AFTER the press conference, and after it was discovered that there was
no Black Metal or any drugs, did the Police try to cover up their mistake by
making up some charges.

1. Charges made were that David Wong put up a signboard without a License.
(There was no signboard)

2. That David Wong was operating a Pub without a License. (My Place is not a
Pub and has never been intended to be a Pub)

3. That David Wong was selling LIQUOR (That is Whisky, Vodka, Rum, etc.
Without a Liquor License. (NO Liquor was sold at all)

4. Holding a Public Gathering without a Police Permit.

None of these charges warrant arrest of the Guests. These false charges are
DBKL Licensing Laws and should not be prosecuted by the Police. None of
these charges relate to David Wong.
